eGift cards made easy: a guide for the holidays

How to choose, send and stay safe with gift cards that arrive by email.

Gift cards are the gift that is always the right size. Emailed eGift cards are even easier: no envelope, no post office and no risk of a lost card in the mail. Here is how to get them right.

Match the card to the person

Sending one from our store

Add the card to your cart and enter the recipient's email at checkout. Once your payment link is paid, the card is emailed, usually within one business day. You can add a short message for the recipient.

Know the rules

In the US, federal law generally does not allow store gift cards and general-use prepaid cards to expire within five years of the date they were bought or last loaded. Each brand sets its own terms beyond that, so check the issuer's terms that come with the card.

Stay safe from gift card scams

The Federal Trade Commission warns that anyone who asks you to pay a bill, a fine or a "fee" with gift cards is a scammer. Real businesses and government agencies do not ask for payment in gift cards. Only give gift card numbers to the person you are gifting, and report scams at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
